Project type
Nabawi chandelier
Date
20 mei 2020
Location
Jakarta, Indonesia
Hans Copper Lighting was commissioned to produce a large-scale Nabawi-style copper chandelier for Istiqlal Mosque, the national mosque of Indonesia and one of the most iconic religious landmarks in Southeast Asia. Designed to complement the monumental scale and geometric interior architecture, the fixture blends traditional Islamic ornamentation with contemporary precision in metalwork.
The chandelier features a multi-tiered circular composition with lantern-style luminaires, distributing soft and balanced illumination suitable for prayer, congregation flow, and ceremonial activities. Intricate perforated copper panels create patterned light reflections that enrich the spatial atmosphere while honoring Islamic artistic heritage.
Fabricated using copper material with weather-resistant finishing and reinforced engineering construction, the installation ensures long-term performance for high-capacity public worship environments. Beyond its functional purpose, the chandelier reinforces the cultural and spiritual identity of the space, marking the presence of craftsmanship within an important national religious institution.
